Associate professor, Murdoch University

I was born in Manjimup in the rural southwest of Western Australia and travelled the world before beginning my academic career.

I am currently based at Murdoch University, where I teach and research in public communication.

I have also worked at University of Canberra, UWA, Murdoch, Curtin and Liverpool Universities. During COVID I led the Coronavax social media study, which analysed community concerns, and spread of misinformation, around COVID and the vaccination program.

I've previously published two books 'Democracy in the Age of New Media' and 'Media After Deleuze'. I've also written widely on issues surrounding public communication and the impact of big data on the public sphere.
